Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipWho I Am Not is a universal story.
It is not a niche film.
It is about the human nature, about us, about what connects us.
Early on, when I was thinking about the form of Who I Am Not, I decided to follow the two protagonists in two different ways because they live two completely different kinds of lives.
By this juxtaposition, I also wanted to suggest that the intersex experience can be various.
Dimakatso and Sharon are somehow on opposite sides of the spectrum.
Their lifestyles are on the opposite sides of the spectrum, and also I wanted the form, the way we present them, to suggest that.
This film is an emotional roller coaster, an invitation for the audience to see and experience what it means to be part of that 150 million people who were silenced and who lived their entire life in secrecy because they are not fitting in the norm.
