Congressman Paul Tonko, a longtime New York State Assemblyman and former head of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, was first elected in 2008. He won a fourth term in 2014, winning 59% of the vote. Joe Vitollo is a nurse and former member of the Air Force. He ran unsuccessfully for Albany County Executive in 2015.
